Deal Castle |
This castle was less popular than the Dover Castle because
it was more of a defensive point for England, mainly where the military and
naval officials were housed. It was also
much smaller in size. It only took us 30 minutes to see the whole thing. The most interesting part for me was the 1st
floor defensive artillery tunnels. Pitch
black, narrow hallways, posted with signs warning of possible flood spaces;
which we did run into as we circled the interior walls.
Welcome to Ramsgate |
As we left we asked the
gift shop employee to recommend a restaurant for lunch. After plotting it into our GPS we realized it
was 30 minutes away but we took his advice and went anyway. Once we arrived, Ross said Ramsgate reminded
him of what New England looks like in the states. This brought back welcomed
childhood memories from his family’s summertime trips.
Port View |
Not sure what this is but it looked fun |
There were large broad
facing homes, built tightly beside each other all facing the harbor with a
strong maritime feel.
The Royal Harbor Restaurant |
The restaurant
looked a bit shabby from the outside but the food was delicious. It was called The Royal Harbor Restaurant and it was the last building
at the end of a large fishing pier.
